In anticipation of the 2018 midterm elections, today we’re bringing you a very special episode of Heinz Radio. First time host Collin T Hayes sits down with three guests to discuss their passions for policy and public service, their views on the current partisan climate, and their visions for our political future.
First, United States Congressman Tim Ryan (D - Ohio’s 13th) shares some bold ideas for economic development and offers his view of national politics from a “bread and butter” Midwestern district where voters feel left behind by global market trends (4:15).
Then we’re joined by Zack Space, who is running for Ohio Auditor, and, if elected, plans to use the powers of this office to combat “hyper-partisan” gerrymandering and limit the influence of money in politics (27:55).
Finally, we speak with Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, IN, about how a “beta city” can offer innovative solutions for urban revitalization and how he hopes inspire optimism in the next generation of America’s leaders (46:46). Special thanks to Sarah Schreck for co-hosting this episode.
