In this week's episode, Eugene sits down with Silvia Borzutzky. Prof. Borzutzky is the Teaching Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Heinz College, and also serves as our faculty advisor.
This interview came as Silvia released a book called Human Rights Policies in Chile: The Unfinished Struggle for Truth and Justice in 2017. Silvia provides some overall background to Pinochet’s rise to power and some of the ultimate consequences of it. She wrote this book as a result of her own concerns with human rights and how governments affect society. Silvia addresses these concerns and how they were materialized in Chile and how the country tried to deal with the cases of persecuting military officials in power during Pinochet’s rule.
